Types of bachelor degree There are two main types of bachelor degree: Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS). A Bachelor of Arts degree allows students to pursue a wide range of subjects before asking them to select a major. Although many people think that studying a Bachelor of Arts degree means that you have to choose a major in a humanities subject, this is not the case. Indeed, you can complete a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in a laboratory science, like physics or biology. Bachelor of Science degrees are more specialized than a Bachelor of Arts degree and give you limited scope to pursue subjects outside of your major. While some may find this limiting, many enjoy the opportunity of studying a subject they love in depth. Unlike a Bachelor of Arts degree which can be awarded to students that major in a science or math subject, Bachelor of Science degrees are exclusive to students studying science or math related subjects.
